Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office adopted community oriented policing and problem solving as the organization philosophy by which the department will accomplish its mission.  The department’s commitment to community oriented policing is reflected daily in special projects, the working partnerships with the community, and the day-to-day work of the deputies.  Some examples of the Sheriff’s Office involvement in community policing include deputies working one on one with Neighborhood Watch groups and block captains as well as attending town hall and other community meetings. Deputies and investigators are also involved in various multi-disciplinary teams including numerous allied agencies and local organizations that come together to focus and take a team approach to resolving issues.  Sheriff Gary Kuntz has adopted the slogan “Community First” to show the Department’s commitment to providing for the needs of the community first above everything else.
